Chani L. Vines is a Director at NRJ Capital.

 

A specialist in clean energy policy and financial instruments, she works with clients to expand energy innovation, strengthen relationships with utilities and regulators, and scale promising technologies to commercialization.   

 

She served as Senior Advisor for finance and state & local policy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under both former Secretaries of Energy Steven Chu and Ernest Moniz.  

 

During her tenure, she oversaw energy efficiency and renewable energy technical assistant teams, developed the state and local Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) program driving standardization and securitization efforts, and worked to deploy over $35 billion in Recovery Act funds. 

 

Chani also led DOE’s Green Banks efforts leveraging public dollars with private sector funds to drive clean energy projects and participated on the Quadrennial Energy Review teams. 

 

Prior to her time at DOE she was director of policy and strategic engagement at Renovate America.  Her work helped move forward major pieces of legislation in California as the company securitized over $3 billion in green bonds.

 

Chani received her B.A. from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and her MBA from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society.  

Youqiao (Joy) Lyu is an Associate at NRJ Capital.

Ms. Lyu brings a multi-industry proficiency to NRJ's quantitative and qualitative research platform.

She has developed statistical analysis vehicles for use in the finance and auto sectors and audited financial statements for vetting in corporate finance transactions.

Joy provides the research, analysis and hands-on discipline necessary to reduce and potentially eliminate the inherent friction between impact vehicles and the capital sources that fund them.

Joy is a graduate of Shandong University in China and the Wharton Business School and is currently completing her Masters of Public Policy

at Georgetown's McCourt School.
